Our featured visiting author this year is the wonderful Duncan Ball.
Duncan is known for his Selby series and Emily Eyefinger. He will be visiting local schools throughout the festival as well as giving a fantastic workshop, talks and panel discussions.
Making a special visit on the Saturday is Ian Irvine. Ian is a world-renowned author of fantasy and eco-thrillers. His children’s series include Runcible Jones and The Sorcerer’s Tower. He will be part of a panel session and will be available for book signings.
Also joining us on the Saturday will be major illustrator Anne Spudvilas, making a welcome return to New England after being our featured illustrator last year, and graphic novelist and animator Daniel Stanley, with both being Illustrators in Residence at UNE this year. They will take part in a panel discussion, which will also include local illustrators David Allan and Fiona McDonald.
There will be activities and workshops for kids, including a puppet-making and playwriting workshop for kids, including a performance of their work of course!
Illustrating workshops for adults and children, manuscript assessments, panel discussions with a great lineup of local and visiting speakers, a workshop by Sophie Masson on how to use fairytales as a basis for children’s fiction, book signings and much more!
Local publishing company Christmas Press Picture Books will be launching their third title Two Tales of Twins from Ancient Greece and Rome by Ursula Dubosarsky on the Saturday afternoon in Uralla.
This year we are running a Short Story Competition open to kids from 5-18 with prizes in each category.
